Summary of VII Lviv International Investment Forum

The Forum brought together guests from over 20 countries and about 500 companies from various industries. The delegation fro Poland arrived as a partner of Ukraine in EURO 2012 organisation.

Speakers at the Opening Ceremony::

Infrastructure Construction for EURO 2012

Airport. During the forum the round table concerning the reconstruction of the airport was held. The representatives of NACO consulting company (Netherlands Airport Consultants BV, Netherlands), the representatives of the State Aviation Administration and Lviv airport management discussed the concept of the airport, which was developed by Airport Consulting Vienna company. The discussion during the roundtable became the basis for the concept of airport development, which later was presented to the public.

Stadium. During the forum the participants discussed the construction of EURO 2012 stadium in Lviv. Three foreign companies presented their proposals. Mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovyy said that in spring the city would start building the stadium to finish the work before 2010.

In the framework of the round table Marazzi company presented the concept of multifunctional sport complex and football stadium construction. The company offered the complete project with all infrastructures (retail and entertainment centres). The cost of construction was 350 million of Euros.

Another project was presented by Implenia/Axon company. The project was concentrated on the supporting infrastructural objects. The company offered to build a stadium and the trade centre separately. The estimated cost of construction was 200 million of Euros.

OHL company presented its vision of the future stadium. The company offers to build the stadium ant network of entertaining objects. Cost of the project 150 million of euros. The conception foresees building the stadium first and finishing the all infrastructure till 2015. The main criterion to select the investor is the time limit- to finish the construction strictly to the deadline.

Hotels. Andriy Stavenko, accommodation expert for EURO 2012 at Football Federation of Ukraine, during the II Hotels Professionals Meeting 2007 in his report ‘Hotel Market of Lviv: current situation and future perspectives’ claimed the city needs for hotel rooms for EURO 2012. As he said Lviv needed 1413 rooms in the category 4-5 stars if the stadium capacity is 36000 people. If the stadium capacity grows to 50 000, then number of rooms needed will go to 2000.

Tourism. ‘Forming the tourist brand" was another roundtable in the framework of Lviv International Investment Forum. In the discussion of how to brand the region took part the leading experts in the field of branding and image management,  the representatives of cities which will host Euro 2012.

Ukraine and Poland – the unique team.

In the framework of the forum the Polish-Ukrainian Forum of Cities Hosting EURO 2012 was organised. The project is the initiative of Government of Wroclaw and College of Eastern Europe named after Jan Nowak-Jeziorański (Poland). It is financed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland and Polish-American Freedom Foundation.
